Fixed term for 12 months from start date.
Salary: £22,736 – £25,534 per annum
Hours of work: Full Time. Your normal hours are a minimum of 37.5 hours per week, worked Monday to Friday. You will be notified of your start and finish times from time to time by Management.
Dove House Hospice is a charity providing care for people in Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire with life limiting illnesses. They are specialists in palliative care which is the total care of patients whose illness is no longer curable and for whom the goal must be quality of life.
The purpose of this role is to develop a Hospice Neighbours scheme reaching out to socially isolated patients and members of the community to support them beyond the walls of the hospice building. A network of volunteers will provide non-medical hospice inspired care, to empower service users to increase social engagement thus improving physical and emotional wellbeing. The post holder will be responsible for:
- Developing and managing the Hospice Neighbours (HN) project
- Identifying and recruiting volunteers to be HNs working in conjunction with the Volunteers Department and the Patient and Community Engagement Lead (PCEL).
- Working in conjunction with the DHH Education and Training Department to develop an induction and training programme for NHs to ensure they are fully equipped for the role and ensure that all HNs take part in the training.
- Assessing the needs, wishes, and interests of service users referred to the HN project
- To assist the Community Engagement Lead with hospice based activities including supporting and assisting patients and carers.
